From Denver, Colorado, Silken Kelly began her training at the Academy of Colorado Ballet. She attended summer intensives at the Harid Conservatory and American Ballet Theatre. As a full-scholarship student, she attended the School of American Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Ballet West. She joined the Houston Ballet’s second company and performed the solo from Stanton Welch’s A Dance in the Garden of Mirth in Switzerland at the Prix de Lausanne Gala. Ms. Kelly toured nationally and internationally with Houston Ballet as a company member performing works by Stanton Welch, David Bintley, and Ben Stevenson. Since relocating to New York in 2015, Ms. Kelly joined Dance Theatre of Harlem and performed at the New York City Center in works by Robert Garland, Elena Kunikova, and Darrell Grand Moultrie. Ms. Kelly performed with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in their production of Le Casse-Noisette/The Nutcracker in Montreal in 2015 and 2016. She has also worked with Miro Magloire/New Chamber Ballet, Christopher Caines Dance, and Margo Sappington, performing a solo from her ballet Entwined.
